High Peak CAB Requires Full-time Experienced Advice Worker

Salary: £21,937 (pay award pending) + 6% pension contribution + 25 days holiday.

We need an experienced, generalist advice worker to staff GP based advice sessions in Buxton and the Hope Valley.  The successful candidate will be an experienced advice worker with a good all-round knowledge, and will be used to working under some pressure, to tight deadlines.

The post will involve travel around a rural area, but will be based in Buxton.

Transport Co-ordinator required to manage and develop the transport activities of the Volunteer Centre and the computerised system.

27.5 hours per week (over five days)

Self Help Nottingham is an established and innovative charity offering a range of services to enable the development of self directed autonomous self help groups for people with long term conditions, disabilities or who face challenging life issues. We have pioneered work at national and local level to explore and disseminate an understanding of best practice in supporting self help groups and peer support.

Projects Manager (Ref SHN/PM)
(Nottingham & West Midlands)
Salary: £28,000 pa + 6% contributory pension  
Full-time (37hrs but shorter hours (30+) will be considered) for fixed-term of 3 years (with possibility of extension)

We have secured 3 years funding from the Department of Health(Third Sector Investment Fund) to develop, pilot and produce a new toolkit to enable Primary Care Trusts (PCT’s) to establish robust information provision about self help support groups in their area. This exciting project offers PCT’s and VCS infrastructure organisations the opportunity to raise the profile of self help and its role within current policy contexts including links to the self care/management of long term health conditions and information prescriptions.
Delivered initially in the West Midlands the pilot will establish effective tools and quality standards for producing and disseminating information about self help and provide advice, guidance and training to organisations interested in supporting self help groups locally.
You will be an experienced project manager with proven ability in multi agency partnership working. The post will be based in Nottingham with extensive travel within the West Midlands with hot desk provision within partner organisations.

Self Help Training and Development Worker (Ref: SHN/TDW)
(Nottingham & Nottinghamshire)
Salary: £24,402-£26,016 pro rata plus 6% contributory pension 
Part-time: 30 hrs/week – Flexible working available
Permanent contract

We are looking for a flexible and creative self starter to join our experienced team of training and development workers. Your role will be to support new and established groups. You will facilitate a range of training and development opportunities for self help groups as well as support local partners in understanding the value and role of self help in health and social care. We support an extremely diverse range of groups therefore you will have excellent communication skills and understanding of the values of self help and mutual aid.

Home-Start Volunteers

Home-Start High Peak are looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to visit a family once a week and offer friendship and support. Home-Start volunteers provide a lifeline for many parents who are struggling to cope, helping them to gain in confidence and give their children the best possible start in life.

As a volunteer, you could offer an extra pair of hands to a family with several children or a family dealing with a disability.  You might provide a listening ear to a mum who is suffering post natal illness or feeling lonely.

St John Ambulance Needs You!

Derbyshire St John Ambulance is looking for new members and leaders in the High Peak area for divisions in Buxton and Glossop.

From Cadets (aged 10-18 years) and adult members, to youth leaders and people to lead the division, all volunteers are welcome.

St John Ambulance is the UK’s leading first aid charity. Our 1,200 Derbyshire volunteers are committed to training, caring and saving lives. We’re also one of the country’s largest youth organisations with more than half of our members aged under 25, with Badgers aged 5-10 and Cadets aged 10-18 years.

Our volunteers provide first aid at high profile local as well as national events and provide support to the statutory services, especially in times of emergency.

Volunteers are vital to our success. Volunteer for us and you will make a real difference to people’s lives, get to go to great events for free and make a whole new circle of friends. We also have a division in Whaley Bridge.
