Farming and Conservation Activity Days

Beardwood Natural Living Project 'Crossing the Boundaries' project have recently secured some funding to run monthly Farming and Conservation Activity Days commencing on Friday 27 February and continuing every last Friday of the month for twelve months from 10am - 4.30am.  

The timescale ensures that every season of the farming year is experienced. Eligibilty is limited to anyone unemployed or economically inactive within the High Peak.

Working with a small team of friendly supportive staff the project can offer: Habitat Management and Conservation, Footpath Repairs and Land Drainage, Dry Shone Walling, Stock Fencing and Animal Care.

Free transport will be available from some areas - they plan to include a minibus loop around Glossop, New Mills and Whaley Bridge areas but the minibus may provide a transport link to participants from Buxton/Chapel area by station/bus stop pick ups. For anyone on foot the farm is about 15 mins walk from Furness Vale station/bus stop. Participants will need to bring a packed lunch, waterproofs and strong (preferably protective) footwear. Tea/coffee etc available on site.
