Running Barefoot for The Stroke Association

Buxton Community School teacher, Aleks Kashefi, recently ran barefoot from Land's End to John O' Groats (1,162 miles) to raise funds for The Stroke Association, then ran last month’s High Peak 40 Miles Challenge barefoot as well.

He’s raised nearly £9,000 of his £10,000 target for The Stroke Association but his JustGiving page closes in a few weeks. He hopes his upcoming 31 October ‘Dusk ‘til Dawn’ 50 mile Peak District ultra-marathon will encourage more donations.

Asked why he was fundraising, Aleks said, "We lost my grandfather as a result of multiple strokes and I witnessed my mother have a stroke when I was very young. That’s why I'm supporting The Stroke Association in their work to improve the outlook for those who are affected by strokes. It’s also why I’m really pleased by what Buxton Rotarians are doing.”
