Dementia Awareness Week 14-20 May

This year’s theme for Dementia Awareness Week is United against Dementia.  

A wide range of voluntary and statutory organisations have contributed to developing what promises to be an exciting week.

Events include

  • Dementia Friends sessions
  • Information Stands
  • Matinee Dementia Friendly screening of Show Boat
  • Memory and activity groups
  • Tea parties /picnics
  • Memory marketplace event 
  • Launch of dementia friendly swimming sessions
  • Launch of dementia friendly Alfreton Town Market Place

Mon 15 May at Buxton Library, Kent Banks Road - 3 options: 09:45, 11:00 & 12:15pm - Dementia Friends Session open for all members of the community throughout the day. Venue is wheelchair accessible.

Tue 16 May at Buxton Morrisons, Bakewell Road - 2 options: 10:30 & 13:30pm - Dementia Friends Session open for all members of the community. Venue is not wheelchair accessible.

Wed 17 May Derbyshire Police launch the Herbert Protocol.- a national scheme which encourages people with dementia, family, friends and carers to put together useful information on a simple form which can then be used if a person with dementia goes missing.
