Have you suffered a recent bereavement or found it hard to come to terms with the loss of a loved one from years ago?
In a safe, confidential and supportive meeting, we would like to hear your views on what local community support or service would help, what’s missing at the moment and what solutions could we come up with together?
Maybe you have some support that’s working and you could share your experience, or perhaps you feel unsupported right now and want to come together to see what might work for you. If you feel you have coped with your bereavement, perhaps you are in a position to share with others how you managed.
Please note this first meeting is not a support group (as yet anyway) but this is certainly one of the possibilities we would like to talk about.
Professional providers of related or useful services are welcome to contact Liz at High Peak CVS for news on the progress on this initiative, but please note this initial meeting is for potential service users.
You can just turn up to the meeting if you prefer and feel free to bring somebody along if that’s helpful too.
For more information contact Liz 01663 736426.

Do your front line staff and volunteers know how to recognise and deal with a Carbon Monoxide (CO) incident in the home of a vulnerable person they are supporting? Does your organisation include CO awareness as part of its duty of care to your staff and volunteers?
The Gas Safe Charity is running a free, interactive half day workshop (10am - 1.00pm with lunch) to help organisations in your area become more aware of the sources, signs and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning, understand what to do if you suspect CO may be present and learn of resources that can help you raise awareness.
The closest areas the workshops are running are Chesterfield on the 28 February and Birmingham on the 7 March.

Derbyshire Connect is offering a new door-to-door shopping bus service for people who are unable to use conventional buses because of mobility difficulties or because they live in areas where bus services are limited.
Details...
Every town or village will get an opportunity for a shopping trip, once a week, to local shops or a supermarket. And the good news is that these trips are now free for all Derbyshire Gold Card holders.
This new service will cover trips to shopping destinations in the Derbyshire Dales, High Peak and South Derbyshire district and borough council areas. They will be run by Ashbourne Community Transport on behalf of Derbyshire County Council. Derbyshire Connect services replace Dial-a-Bus (DAB) services previously provided by Derbyshire’s various community transport schemes.
The new Derbyshire Connect services will initially run in the same way as the old-style DAB services. They will run door-to-door picking passengers up from home and dropping them off at an agreed shopping location, advised at the time of booking. Volunteer passenger assistants can be provided if you let us know in advance, for passengers needing a bit more help.

To celebrate the first ever Village Halls Week, Rural Action Derbyshire is holding two Networking Events:
Baslow Village Hall on Tuesday 23 Jan (11.00am to 2.00pm)
Dalbury Lees Village Hall on Wednesday 24 Jan (11.00am to 2.00pm)
Come along and meet with your colleagues and friends to find out what is happening in the world of village halls. Whether you are a long-standing trustee, a new or potentially new committee member, a local authority or just curious about village halls, then please do come along and join us.
You will be able to learn more about the services RAD offer, share good practice, identify common concerns, identify your training needs and tell RAD how they can better support you in the future. It is free to attend and will give you the opportunity to discuss issues affecting your hall with others facing similar experiences.
You will also hear about the new GDPR Data Protection legislation, coming into force in May 2018 and how this will affect your organisation and the ‘Digital Village Hall’.
To book your place/s, email Helena Stubbs at H.Stubbs@Ruralactionderbyshire.org.uk or phone 01629 592970 or 01629 592973 and say which event you wish to attend. It is essential you book your place for catering purposes; light refreshments provided.
