Warm invitation to come and meet High Peak CVS to help you keep out the cold this winter and save money.
Details...
Come and see us in Glossop Town Centre (at the Fantastic Homes Bus) in the car park outside the main Council Municipal Building, Glossop on Friday 26 Feb 2016, 10am – 3pm.
High Peak CVS staff will be hosting a fun and interactive stand as part of the Big Energy Saving Project, which helps local people save money on their gas and electric bills. We all know that paying for heating and electricity is a huge part of our household spending and the most vulnerable people in our community can struggle to find the money. Living in a cold home can have a huge impact on our physical and mental health and wellbeing.
For this reason our staff will be at the Fantastic Homes Bus in Glossop, kindly supported by High Peak Borough Council.
Many people are paying the top price for their fuel and electricity without even realising, and because they are not sure how to switch supplier. Most people can easily save a lot of money by switching to a different supplier or a cheaper contract. Therefore, we are asking people to look out their most recent gas and electric bill and bring it with them. This way our staff and volunteers can find out immediately if someone can pay less. We are also giving out FREE energy monitors, which tell people how much energy they are using. There will also be information on energy saving ideas, renewable energy sources and current information about government grants and tariffs.
Our project is completely unconnected to any energy supplier and is funded by the Government's Department of Environment & Climate Change. We have helped people save on average £200-£400 a year.
Please help us spread the word by passing this invitation to your membership and friends. If you want to find out more, please call Rachel on 07715 422 789.

Charities have lost more than £3.8bn in grants from government over the last decade. At the continued rate of decline there will no government grant money for charities by the next general election. This could destroy families and communities across the UK.
Details...
From a height of £6bn in 2003, the total value of public sector grant-making to the voluntary sector had plummeted to just £2.2bn by 2013. There is little to suggest that this trajectory is going to change – austerity looks set to continue and local councils, one of the sector’s biggest funders, are staring down the barrel of a 29% cut to their funding over the next five years.
The Grants for Good campaign led by Charity Finance Group, Children England, NAVCA and Lloyds Bank Foundation believes that grants are essential for charities and community groups.
The case needs to be made to commissioners to ensure they realise the value in commissioning charities and community groups through grants. To do this, the campaign wants to hear about your experience of using grants. How has your community benefited from them? Tell them and sign up to our email bulletin to keep up to date with the campaign.
