News: CFG Fraud Guide

CFG launches new guide and checklist for small charities on preventing fraud.

As Small Charities Week focuses attention on the excellent work of small charities, CFG launches its Counter Fraud Campaign and has produced a free guide and checklist for you to protect your charity and it's assets from fraud.

The Small Charities Guide to Preventing Fraud will help small charities to outline the steps you need to take to protect yourselves against fraud, highlight what tell-tale signs to look out for, know what to do once you have detected fraud and where to report the fraud to. 

To compliment The Small Charities Guide to Preventing Fraud, CFG has also produced a Counter Fraud Checklist. This checklist is designed to help charities to establish or strengthen their counter-fraud policy. The checklist asks ten essential questions that all charities should be thinking about when working to tackle fraud.

News: Sustainable Hayfield AGM

July 20th at Royal Hotel, Hayfield, 7.30pm, only lasts 20 minutes followed by a very informative and uplifting talk from Joe Margetts and Tom Aspinall from the Moors For the Future project on the underpinning science behind all the work they've been doing to conserve our local South Pennine Moors.

This is the biggest moorland conservation project in Europe (they're the ones with helicopters delivering lime and seeds to the uplands), and has an amazing impact  on the health of the local peat blanket.

Entitled 'Carbon, Climate, Water and Wildlife - the Scientific Work to combat the Catastrophe of Bare Peat', the talk will provide illustrations of the vital importance of our local peat bogs - which store the bulk of the UK's land-based carbon - and whose steady degradation over 200 years has meant increased carbon emissions, reduced water retention, increased risk of flooding, and diminished wildlife. This is all being reversed by this inspirational project.

Life you choose is an arts and multimedia group for adults with learning difficulties.

Job: Fundraising and Communications Assistant

Organisation: Blythe House Hospice

Salary: £16,968 - £18,000 per annum FTE for up to 30 hours per week

Blythe House offers many services to people of the High Peak.  They need to raise £1,000,000 each year to provide this support to people affected by cancer,          other life-limiting illnesses or bereavement.

Blythe House Hospice are seeking a proactive and outgoing individual to join their small team to cover maternity leave.  This role requires excellent communication, IT and organisational skills, self-motivation and the ability to work flexibly with a creative and dynamic approach to fundraising, marketing and public relations.

Job: Male Support Worker and Bank Workers

Organisation: The Derbyshire Federation for Mental Health

Salary: 30 hrs pw + 1 weekend in four - £7.69 ph basic, £8.17ph for Diploma Level 3 Health and Social Care qualified

The Derbyshire Federation for Mental Health is a charity supporting individuals living with or recovering from mental ill health.

As an individual support worker the post requires you to support people experiencing poor mental wellbeing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with people, and will be reliable and flexible. They will also be confident, have excellent communication skills, and be able to provide clients with support and encouragement. Previous experience in a care setting is beneficial, but not essential because full training will be provided. You must be a car owner and have a full licence.

There is a genuine occupational requirement to seek a male worker permitted under schedule 9 of The Equality Act 2010.
