News: Derbyshire Sport Funding News

1) Families Fund – This item includes some key points about this new Sport England fund, including a summary of the assessment criteria.  

2) Co-op Funding for Good Causes – This fund is open to CASCs, charities and scouts or guides groups.  Members vote for projects to have a share of the funding. The deadline for applications is 8 August 2017.

3) Central England Co-op Fund – next deadline 28 July 2017.  Not to be confused with the fund detailed above, although this is another membership scheme, with grants up to £5K available.  There are Central England Co-ops right across the county 

4) EON’s Energising Communities Fund – This fund can support energy efficiency projects which can include appliances and insulation.  Grants from £50 up to £2,000 are available.  The deadline is Monday 7 August.

News: Glossopdale Furniture Project Shop Move

Glossopdale Furniture Project have moved from the shop in Henry Street to 10 George Street, just off the High Street in Glossop.

The shop is open Tuesday to Friday 10am - 4.30pm and Saturday 10am - 4pm, selling good quality furniture and furniture that has been made or restored in their workshop. 

You can donate any unwanted furniture in good condition, which can be collected from your home. Upholstered furniture must comply with fire regulations.  Electrical goods in good working order are also accepted, but not washing machines, tumble driers, cookers or dishwashers.

News: Alcohol and Substance Misuse Training

Derbyshire Alcohol Advice Service regularly deliver a number of alcohol awareness and substance misuse courses for health and social care staff and others working with the public.

25 July 9.30-4pm – Substance Misuse.
8 August 9.30-4pm – Alcohol Awareness and Brief Interventions.
22 August 9.30-4pm – Substance Misuse.

Both these courses are FREE to people working with individuals and communities in Derbyshire and are based In Chesterfield - Derbyshire Alcohol Advice Service, First Floor, Dents Chambers, 81 New Square.

News: Home Start High Peak Volunteer Opportunities

Home Start High Peak is delighted that BBC Children in Need has awarded a grant of £98,642 over 3 years. This grant will fund the FRED Project and will help make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people here in the High Peak.

Home Start High Peak are looking for:

  • New Trustees, who will help guide and contribute to leadership and direction of the charity.
  • An Administrator to support the busy charity office in Buxton.
  • New family support volunteers to join the team of volunteers.

News: Blythe House Hospice Volunteer Opportunities

Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith is the only day hospice serving the local community in the High Peak.

They have a wide range of volunteer opportunities currently available at Blythe House and in two of their four charity shops in New Mills and Buxton.  If you can spare a morning or afternoon to help at the hospice they are particularly looking for extra help in the following areas:

  • Serving light refreshments to patient,  staff and volunteers 
  • Assisting in the creative art group to help patients enjoy all types of craft and painting mediums
  • Drivers to bring patients to the hospice in the morning and to take them home again mid-afternoon.

Job: Fundraising and Events Coordinator

Organisation: TOG Mind

Salary: £18,075 - 36 hrs pw

You will be supporting the management of fundraising events, supporter care and sourcing new fundraising opportunities within the local community.

This role is perfect for someone with the ability to promote the key charity messages and the drive to inspire current and potential supporters to help fund the vital mental health services offered here at TOG Mind.

You will be supporting in a number of areas including:

  • Supporting on events organisation for all fundraising events including recruiting and managing volunteers for these events.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with supporters and encouraging fundraising partnerships.
  • Supporting community fundraisers with their own events, sponsored challenges and other ways of giving.
  • Sourcing new unrestricted fundraising streams.
  • Inspiring the community to support the cause across the Tameside, Oldham and Glossop area.
  • Helping to deliver key messages within the community through a range of events and presentations.
