News: 5 Ways to Wellbeing Small Grants

High Peak CVS are administering this small grants scheme which has £12,900 to award in small grants in the financial year 2017/18. Deadline 13 Nov.

This is funding from Derbyshire County Council Public Health.

There are two opportunities to apply: in July and November 2017. 

The First round of applications took place in July but there is still £7k to bid for. 
The deadline for this second round of applications is 13 November 2017. 


Who can apply to this fund? - Small to medium High Peak organisations with an annual turnover of £50,000 or less.

You can apply for a maximum of £2,000 for any voluntary and community project that addresses the ‘5 ways to wellbeing’; particularly for people with a higher risk of experiencing mental health and wellbeing problems.

Event: Emergency First Aid at Work

Date: Wed 11 Oct 2017   Time: 9.30am - 4.30pm

A popular one-day, certificated introduction to Emergency First Aid at Work, useful for all, but especially those acting as volunteers or workers within a voluntary and community group. Book early as places go very quickly.

The course will cover, in the accordance with HSE guidelines, all aspects of what should be done in an emergency, which are:

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • Control of wounds & bleeding
  • Incident management
  • Accident reporting
  • CPR and airway disorders
  • Causes of unconsciousness and recovery position
  • Wounds, bleeding, bandaging and shock
  • Other illnesses and conditions

The course also includes a demonstration of how to use a defibrillator

Note - Delegates must be able to perform the recovery position and CPR on the floor. This involves kneeling.

High Peak CVS AGM is on Tuesday 31 October 12.45 - 3.10pm at St George’s Parish Hall, Church Lane, New Mills, High Peak SK22 4NP

Guest Speaker Sarah Stainthorpe from Foundation Derbyshire.  She will give a brief talk about Foundation Derbyshire and the grants available at the moment. There will be an opportunity, after the AGM, to speak to both Sarah and Liz Fletcher about the suitability of the grants available for your group.

News: Derbyshire Dales CVS AGM

Thur 19 October 2017 1pm at The Memorial Hall, 39 St John's St, Wirksworth.

The AGM will be combined with a Networking Event for local voluntary and community groups and statutory partners, where you can meet other local organisations, and promote your own organisation and its services.

News: Dementia Services Experiences

Healthwatch Derbyshire want to hear from anyone who has had experience of dementia services in the last year.

The information will be collected anonymously and shared with those responsible for running dementia services, so that they know what works well and what doesn’t.

News: Derbyshire Suicide Awareness Seminars

Rural Action Derbyshire are providing free Suicide Awareness Seminars across Derbyshire.

This half-day training seminar is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their understanding of the subject, and would be of particular interest to those whose work may bring them into contact with people at greater risk of suicide and self-harm.

Job: Advice Session Supervisor

Organisation: Citizens Advice Derbyshire Districts

Salary: £24,426 pa 37 pw

To provide supervision for face to face and telephone advice sessions in the Matlock and Belper offices.

To be successful in this role, you will need in-depth knowledge and experience of advice, possess excellent client care skills and the ability to provide feedback to others verbally and in writing. Experience in the current benefits system and an up to date knowledge and understanding of welfare reform is essential.

You will need to manage the practicalities of the advice session and ensure adequate staffing and resources in addition to monitoring the case records, face to face interviews and telephone calls of designated staff to ensure quality standards are met.
