News: Vounteer Van Drivers Needed

Volunteers are needed to help deliver surplus food across the county as part of Feeding Derbyshire, a countywide social eating project.

As part of the project, Derbyshire County Council funded the setting up of a food hub in Chesterfield that distributes surplus food to community projects such as community kitchens and food banks.

The hub is run by FareShare East Midlands, a charity that works to reduce food waste and food inequality. FareShare now needs volunteer drivers to help meet the growing demand for the hub’s services during Christmas and New Year.

At least six drivers are needed to work at the depot and recruits will need to be able to work flexible hours, delivering food to outlets located in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire out of the FareShare’s hub in Chesterfield.

Anyone interested in becoming a FareShare volunteer can contact Alyson at the Chesterfield depot on  0116 2867735.
