News: Mental Health Awareness Training Workshop

Tuesday 11 September 6-9pm at High Peak CVS, 105 Buxton Road, Whaley Bridge

As part of the Future in Mind project High Peak CVS is offering a second free introductory workshop for voluntary organisations, community groups and clubs working with 5 -18 year olds. 

This session will increase your awareness and understanding of child and adolescent mental health and help you to become more aware of early signs of distress in young people that you are working with.

Trainer: Debra Nash (Dip. Couns. Registered member MBACP)

The workshop will cover:

  • Mental health: protective factors and risk factors
  • Societal influences/lifestyles and the pressures they bring
  • Common mental health problems in children and young people
  • Spotting the signs of deteriorating mental health
  • Supporting children and young people at risk of deteriorating mental health
  • Where to go for help

News: High Peak CVS AGM

Tuesday 23 October 2018 1.15-3.15pm at St George’s Parish Hall, Church Lane, New Mills.

There will be light refreshments (teas, coffees, juice, biscuits and cake) from 12.45pm.

News: Cataract Survey

Healthwatch Derbyshire are carrying out a survey to find out peoples experiences of care and treatment for cataracts.

They want to find out what works well, and where things could be improved, so that patients can be part of the design and delivery of services to meet their needs.

The closing date is Sunday 2 September 2018.

Individuals who complete the survey can enter our prize draw for a £30.00 Marks & Spencer gift voucher.


News: Macmillan Community Volunteer Project Open Day

Blythe House Hospice Friday 17 August 17.

Blythe House Hospice in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Care is introducing an exciting and innovative project that provides a unique opportunity to volunteer in the community.  Share your skills and learn new ones as you are trained to be one of the first to volunteer alongside their Hospice at Home team of professionals, helping care for patients who wish to be supported in the comfort of their own home.  

To find out more Blythe House Hospice invites you to an Open Day on Friday 17 August 2018.  Breakfast from 7:30 am – 9:00 am. and Coffee from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Or call 01298 815388 and speak to Vicci or Julie.
