News: Tameside and Glossop Budget Consultation

Tameside Council and Tameside & Glossop CCG (Tameside & Glossop Strategic Commission) has launched a Budget Conversation inviting local people to give their views on budget priorities for 2019/20 and beyond.

Together, the Strategic Commission is responsible for a huge range of services, from schools to GP surgeries, street lights to looking after those in need. Overall the total amount of money we spend annually is £900 million.

In recent years, this figure has decreased significantly due to cuts from central government and with each budget, we are tasked with coming up with innovative ways to deliver our services and make savings.

The Budget Conversation aims to explain where the money we spend comes from and how we spend it. We are inviting people’s thoughts on two key issues:

  • What should be the spending priorities for 2019/20 and future years and;
  • Ideas or suggestions as to how we might deliver services more efficiently, save money or raise revenue.

You can participate in the Budget Conversation by visiting the dedicated web page and completing the online survey - www.tameside.gov.uk/tbc/budgetconversation2019-20

Alternatively comments can be e-mailed to bigconversation@tameside.gov.uk.

The conversation will run until Tuesday 29 January 2019.

News: Alzheimer's Society Fund Raiser

THE JUNGLE - Buxton's largest Pet and Aquatic Store, is holding an open day to raise funds for the charity on Friday 28 Dec 11.00am to 4.00pm at Staden Lane, Buxton.

The Alzheimer's Society works across the UK to support families with dementia, and to research the causes of this condition which affects so many. Christmas can be a stressful time for sufferers, because routines are turned upside down, which may feel threatening or distressing to them. Alzheimer's Society need funds to continue their valuable work.

At the event there will be opportunities to hold little furry animals... or for the braver customers, a chance to hold a snake.

All day there will be something different happening..

There will be a tombola competition for young and old to take part in, with some lovely prizes.

Regular customers will not be neglected... there will be staff at hand to serve them too, with some great bargains.

The week between Christmas and New Year, usually a low point, will be turned into a high point on the calendar. Please come along and support the Charity Open Day at the Jungle.
