News: Community Action Grant

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire is inviting funding applications which help to deliver his Police and Crime Plan priorities.

The next annual large grant round is open for applications between the 1 October and 30 November 2017. Applications are invited from non-statutory organisations (voluntary, community groups and local non-profit making organisations) for any amount between £2,501 to £25,000 to fund local projects which help to deliver the Commissionerís Police and Crime Plan priorities.

The next round of small grant applications closes on 1 November 2017. Applications are invited for amounts up to £2,500. There are 3 opportunities to apply for a small grant per year.

News: Access to Travel Consultation

The Department for Transport is seeking feedback on a draft accessibility action plan which sets out proposals to improve the travel experience for people with disabilities.

The action plan covers a range of transport modes including: Aviation, Rail, Buses and Taxis

The document also considers ways to improve public space to make it more accessible for people with disabilities.

The consultation closes at 11:45pm on 15 November 2017.

News: Furness Films - Their Finest

Friday 20 October at Furness Vale Community Centre.

1940, London, the Blitz; with the countryís morale at stake, Catrin (Gemma Arterton) an untried screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew, work under fire to make a film to lift the nationís flagging spirits; and inspire America to join the war. Partnered alongside fellow screenwriter, Buckley (Sam Claflin}; the pair set off to make a film that will warm the hearts of the nation and capture the imagination of the American population.

Afternoon Matinee - doors open at 2pm; Film Run including prefilm items from 2.30pm.  Interval with hot drinks, ice creams fresh fruit and confectionery sales.  Suggested admission contribution £2 per adult

News: High Peak Diabetic Self Help Group

The next meeting will be on Monday 16 October, when staff from the North Derbyshire Health Team will speak about training available for people with Type 2 Diabetes.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Mon 20 November. .

On Mon 18 December, Kathryn Rogers of Fork Provoking will return to talk to a wider audience. Nutrients which may help to prevent Dementia will be the topic, 

All meetings are held at the Community Room, Buxton Fire Station at 7.00pm. Everyone is welcome. All talks are free and individuals can talk in confidence if they are experiencing difficulties. Leaflets and information are available at each session. The group is Affiliated to Diabetes UK, and welcomes anyone who has an interest in diabetes, even if they themselves do not have the condition.
