News: Update on HPCVS / Bureau Merger Talks

Update on Merger discussions between High Peak CVS and the Bureau in Glossop.

Nigel Caldwell General Manager of High Peak CVS wants to bring everyone up to date with the position regarding the proposed merger discussions that have been taking place between High Peak CVS and the Bureau over the past few months.

The two charities have, as you will be aware, been considering merger. However, after a number of meetings and in-depth discussions we have jointly concluded that alternative options for cooperation, short of full merger, are in the better interests of both organisations and the communities they support.  

High Peak CVS remains committed to providing high quality support to the voluntary and community sector in High Peak now and in the future. We are continuing to review the most effective way of delivering that support and will be mindful of the needs of the sector in these more challenging times.

News: Community-run Libraries

Plans which could see communities working together to run their local library.

If you're interested in getting involved and want to find out how, then join your local focus group? You'll be able to give your views, discuss the practicalities and challenges and decide if you want to take your interest further.

News: Youth Activity Grants

Over the next two years there will be 750 grants of up to £500 on offer to help groups fund projects and events which will benefit young people in their local communities.

The first deadline is 30 June 2018, so groups hoping to get funding for schemes in the school summer holidays are advised to apply before that date.

News: Chapel Past and Present Weekend

Chapel Arts is organising a weekend of events from 7- 8 July, coinciding with Chapel’s Well Dressing.

The aim is to offer an opportunity to learn more about the history of this ancient market town.

Events include:

  • Exhibition at the Playhouse from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July 2018:
  • Tours of St Thomas Becket Church
  • Film Show of Chapel Past and Present: Saturday 7 July from 1.30pm – 5pm at the Town Hall
  • Sunday 8 July from 11am – 4pm Upstairs at Rems Café Bar, Market Street
  • Trail of local shops and hostelries

News: The Disley Great Get Together

A Rainbow of Delights on Sunday 8 July 2-4.30pm at Disley Primary School.

With The Women Asylum Seeker Together choir, Disley Community choir, Disley Children’s choir and some Indian Bhangra dancing to join in.

You can see and make craft items: brooches, purses, origami, bookmarks, knitting squares for premature babies, Lego, face painting and henna tattoos.

The Funding Support role will support the Funding Lead to bring additional funding for physical activity and sport into Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire through: 

• Advising and supporting partners to understand where the opportunities for funding are and building their capacity and capability to be able to apply for funding. 

• On behalf of Active Derbyshire, Active Notts or their partners, developing funding applications for physical activity and sport, based on insight and an understanding of priorities and identified local need.

Deaf and Hearing Support is an independent charity which champions the work of the  DCC Adult Social Care and the CCG’s in the voluntary sector.  They provide vital support to deaf and hearing impaired people.

They are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and organised person to support the Administration Manager to ensure the smooth running of the busy organisation.

1 Year Contract with possibility to extend subject to funding. Pension: 5% matched contribution. Responsible to:  Administration Manager
