News: High Peak CVS AGM

You are invited to the AGM of High Peak CVS on Tuesday 23 October 2018 at St George’s Parish Hall, Church Lane, New Mills.

There will be light refreshments (teas, coffees, juice, biscuits and cake) from 12.45pm.  The AGM will start at 1.15pm and run until 3.20 pm.

Our Guest Speaker is Jess Myers - Funding Officer from the Big Lottery.  Jess covers North Derbyshire and will give an update on current Lottery funding.

Celebrating People Award – High Peak CVS is inviting nominations for its Celebrating People Award.  Last year’s winners were Furness COGS (Community Organising Green Space).  This year’s winning group will receive the Award, a framed certificate and £100. News: Village Halls & Community Buildings Conference

Friday 23 November 9.15am to 3.15pm at The Post Mill Centre, South Normanton, Alfreton.

Rural Action Derbyshire (RAD) is delighted to join forces with Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN) to present an informative and interactive event with top speakers, case studies and a networking lunch, specifically for managers of village halls and community buildings.This first cross-county conference dedicated to community buildings, it is an ideal opportunity for anyone with an interest in or involved with managing a community facility, to learn how to become more sustainable and ‘fit for the future’.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Professor Katharine Willis (Associate Professor, University of Plymouth)  The Digital Venue Toolkit and digital inclusion – a guide to getting your village or community venue online

FREE conference to raise awareness of cybercrime threats to the Voluntary and Community Sector and provide advice on how to prevent them.

#Derbyshire Online Supporting the Voluntary Sector in the Digital Age - Friday 2 November 2018 9.30am – 4.00pm  at The Post Mill Centre, South Normanton

An informative conference designed to bring together charities and voluntary organisations to highlight the everyday cyber risks that your organisation faces and provide advice to protect your organisation’s funds, personal data and other information that is attractive to cyber criminals.   Throughout the day, experts from industry and the police demonstrate the simple steps you can take to protect your charity and yourselves online.

  • Appreciate how technology can promote and support the work of your charity
  • Understand the threat of cybercrime to the voluntary sector
  • Know how to improve your cyber security in order to protect your charity’s data, assets and reputation
  • Learn basic online safety practices that will help protect yourself, your staff, your volunteers, your trustees and your service users

This event is aimed at Trustees, Managers and Team Leaders within charities and voluntary organisations in Derbyshire.  A maximum of two places are available per organisation.

News: Women's Vote Centenary Grant Scheme

Final Round of Small Grants Closes 16 October 2018

You can apply for a grant of between £300 and £2,000 for activities to mark the centenary in your community. Small Grants are available for grassroots projects to run small-scale events and activities to celebrate the centenary of women gaining the vote. There have previously been two bidding rounds in 2018, this is now the third and final bidding round.

News: Bereavement and Loss Support Group

The group is for people who are suffering the effects of bereavement - and could do with some support from others in the same boat - over tea and biscuits.

Meetings are informal and safe, friendly, welcoming and confidential - a chance to share experiences and feelings, to swap useful information. 

Please join if you have suffered a recent bereavement and are struggling to find local support or if you were bereaved some time ago and still feel stuck. And if you feel you have managed to come through and are ready and able to help others.

Meetings are every second Wednesday 12-2pm at Glossop Labour Club, Chapel Street, Glossop

News: Christmas Pudding Appeal

2018 Christmas Pudding Appeal for Prostate Cancer Charities

Help by buying a 908g (2 lb), serves eight, Christmas Pudding, price still £10; it is fully cooked and just needs reheating. Post/deliver your order, along with a cheque payable to ‘Rotary Club of Buxton’, to be with Rotarian Andy Collier, 93 Green Lane, Buxton, SK17 9DJ, by 31 October latest (date we place our bulk order). Include your telephone number and email and postal addresses, which will be held securely.

Instructions on how to order and pay by BACS and a downloadable order form if you have a printer, are on the website link below. Orders from Buxton addresses will be delivered by early December; customers outside Buxton will be asked to collect their puddings by arrangement.

Puddings may contain mustard and fragments of nutshell, kernel or small stones. Main allergens are egg, wheat (gluten), nuts, sulphites, sulphur dioxide, but do check via our website or at, where a unit case of 12 puddings can be bought online for £120 including free delivery. Rotary Club of Buxton have been supporting Cwmbran Vale Rotary's Christmas Pudding Appeal since 2007, selling 1,776 puddings to date.

Job: Marketing Assistant

Salary: £16,772 to £18,251 subject to experience (full time/ 35 hrs per week/ flexi-time)

Joining a team of ten in Warwick the Marketing Assistant supports the Marketing & Communications Manager in all aspects of marketing and communications, with specific responsibility for print management for the live rural & community touring scheme and the community cinema scheme, communications (delegated elements of PR and media/ press function, including digital media), and will deputise for the Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) in their absence.

You should have a passion for the arts and be an efficient and enthusiastic person with good organisational, communication and computer skills, a friendly personality, good written English and an eye for design. Previous arts marketing experience essential.
