News: 5 Ways to Wellbeing Grants

High Peak CVS are running the Public Health 5 Ways to Wellbeing grants again this year.

The aim of the fund is to improve the mental wellbeing of people living in Derbyshire by providing community based activities and services that help people to access the "Five Ways to Wellbeing” - a set of national evidence-based actions which promote people’s wellbeing.  They are Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give.

  • Grants are up to £1000
  • Applications are invited from voluntary, community or faith groups active in High Peak.
  • Closing Date 30 November 2018
  • We are particularly looking to fund new projects or activities that take an asset-based approach. This means building on or developing the skills, knowledge and capabilities of local residents within your project.

The report contains the findings, recommendations and pledged responses from commissioners.

News: Home Start High Peak Volunteers

Home Start High Peak are looking for Trustees and home visiting volunteers.

Home-Start High Peak provides a unique service for families – recruiting and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home.

Home Start High Peak are looking for a couple of Trustees to join their existing dedicated trustees.  They have also have secured some funding to train additional home visiting volunteers. They hope to run a volunteer preparation course before Christmas, so they are ready to volunteer from January.

Job: Care Staff

Organisation: Buxton Home Support Service

Salary: £8.50/£8.75 per hour

Care staff required. Must be reliable and dedicated to providing care and support in a dignified manner whilst promoting independence.

You will be required to assist with a variety of tasks - Help in/out of bed, personal care, medication, meal preparation, domestic duties, supporting clients out into the community. 

Hours are on a structured rota system and are flexible based on a 3 week shift pattern including morning, evening and weekend work.

No experience necessary as full training and mentoring will be offered. 

Areas available to work in: Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Whaley Bridge, New Mills and surrounding areas. 

Own transport essential. 


  • Free Full Care Certificate Training programme with ongoing support
  • Hourly pay for all training completed
  • An opportunity to train towards Level 2 & 3 Health & Social Care Diploma
  • Permanent contract of 16 hours per week (with an opportunity to work extra hours)
  • Pay £8.50/£8.75 per hour
  • Travel expenses including travel time between clients home + mileage rate of 36p per mile
  • Annual Leave accrued on a pro-rata basis
