Entertainment group donates to local causes, including
High Peak CVS

High Peak CVS was thrilled to have been invited along to receive a cheque from the famous Buxton Billerettes at the start of the month.

The Billerettes, who are famous around the High Peak and beyond for their fun take on a marching band, have been entertaining crowds for decades, performing at all manner of community events, fairs, and local shows.

The group, established by the original Billerette, Bill Weston, do not charge for their performances, they bring their fun and frolics to events allowing organisers to often go round with collection buckets to raise funds for their own good cause or event.

The good nature and spirit of the Billerettes doesn’t always however go unrecognised and the group themselves often receive donations and contributions by way of thanks for their attendance and performances.

Every now and then, when the coffers have built up a substantial amount of cash from these donations, Bill and his Billerettes decide on several worthy local causes that they think should benefit from the money.

On hand to collect the cheque for £500 at the presentation evening on behalf of High Peak CVS was Group Development worker Deb Boden, who on the night said she was thrilled to have been invited, and that High Peak CVS was very grateful and humbled to have been recognised for this donation among the likes of some very worthy local causes.

The money will go towards continuing High Peak CVS’s work in supporting the area’s valuable voluntary sector to continue to grow and thrive.

Other worthy recipients of cheques on the night included many High Peak CVS members including Zink, Connex, Blythe House Hospice and Still Waters Dementia Café
