We have a crisis on our hands
Speak Up for Derbyshire’s Community Services:
Your Opinion Matters!
Derbyshire County Council is proposing a significant change that could affect the future of all voluntary and community groups across the High Peak.
The proposal to end discretionary grant funding is under consideration, and it’s crucial that Derbyshire residents voice their concerns.
These grants are a lifeline for the voluntary sector, supporting a wide range of essential services in the High Peak.
The consultation survey is open until 20th August 2024, and your participation is vital.
Click the button directly below to voice your concern about these devastating cuts and fill in the survey to have your say about the emergency that is facing our voluntary sector.
HELP US SAVE OUR SECTOR.
If this goes ahead, over £1 million in grants will be lost for community and
voluntary groups, across the High Peak and Derbyshire.
Specifically, groups providing adult social care would lose just over
£722,000, while groups receiving corporate services and transformation
grants would forfeit just over £333,000.
Why This Matters:
These grants have played a critical role in enabling community groups to offer vital services to Derbyshire residents. From supporting the elderly and vulnerable to providing essential community programs, the impact of these groups cannot be underestimated. Without this funding, many of these organisations may struggle to continue operating, leaving gaps in services many rely on.
Council’s Financial Pressures:
Derbyshire County Council has highlighted financial pressures as the reason behind these proposed cuts. While the council needs to prioritise spending on statutory services required by law, the potential loss of discretionary grants raises concerns about the sustainability of other important services.
Your Chance to Make a Difference:
Now more than ever, it’s crucial for residents to respond to the survey. By sharing your views, you can help shape the future of community services in Derbyshire. Here’s how you can participate:
- Online Questionnaire: Fill out the survey available online. It’s a quick and effective way to share your thoughts and concerns.
- Paper Questionnaire: If you prefer a paper copy, you can download one here and email it to policy@derbyshire.gov.uk.
DVA Petition
