Helping Out The High Peak has called on businesses of all sizes to discover the many benefits of working with locally based community groups at its official launch event.
Companies based in Derbyshire’s High Peak, as well as a wide range of groups, came along to discover more about what the scheme can offer earlier this month.
Established by High Peak Community and Voluntary Support (CVS) with financial support from the Severn Trent Community Fund, Helping Out The High Peak aims to connect local businesses with community organisations that could benefit from their support.
It’s all about match-making businesses who want to give something back with opportunities to make a real difference in our local community.
Helping out the High Peak’s business engagement officer, Andy Hamill, is currently contacting companies across the High Peak to sign them up to the new scheme.
Andy explained: “There are many different ways that businesses of all sizes can get involved with Helping out the High Peak – from providing free legal, accountancy or HR advice to offering photocopying or printing services.
“In addition, they might have a meeting room that’s unoccupied for a part of the day that they wouldn’t mind being used occasionally by a community group – and much more, besides.
“In short, opportunities abound that will be transformative for all participants – as well as our High Peak community.”
The new initiative was officially launched alongside Buxton’s newly opened co-working space ‘Coco- The Coworking Collective’ by the Mayor of the High Peak, Councillor Barbara Hastings-Asatourian on Friday, September 4.
Coun Hastings-Asatourian said: “This is an excellent initiative which aims to ensure that businesses and community groups can collaborate for their mutual benefit precisely when they wish to.
“Everyone who gives time and energy of themselves to others feels mental and emotional benefits that can profoundly affect everyone’s wellbeing.
“It was an honour to be asked to launch Helping Out The High Peak – at the same time as Coco: The Coworking Collective – and I’ll be following both organisations’ progress with great interest.”
The launch event also included a personalised video congratulating both organisations on their launch from Jon Pearce, MP for the High Peak.
