High Peak CVS’s Bereavement Support Group is relocating one of its regular meetings to a new home later this month as it looks to support even more people.
For the past two years, the “central group” has met regularly at Chapel en le Frith Golf Club, but it will take up a new home at New Mills Volunteer Centre, in Union Road, later this month.
The support groups are specifically for adults who are struggling with bereavement and are facilitated to ensure all participants are safe, respected, cared for and heard.
Liz Fletcher, leader of the Bereavement Support Group, said: ” Chapel en le Frith Golf Club has been truly wonderful over the past two years – and I can’t thank them enough.
“Allowing us to run a support session once a fortnight in a quiet and comfortable space really is a significant contribution to the wellbeing of everyone coming to terms with their loss.
“It’s also a significant investment in the wellbeing of our community.
“As a community service, we are reliant on local venues for people to be able to access support at such a tough time in life.”
Liz also singled out for mention two members of Chapel en le Frith Golf Club’s team – Dave and Bob – who have consistently “gone the extra mile” to help.
Separately, Liz is appealing for all past and present participants of the Bereavement Support Group to make a financial donation to ensure the service’s longevity.
It is a charity and not funded by the NHS – and consequently will rely on grants and donations after its current funding ends in August 2027.
The Bereavement Support Groups have introduced a donation box at all groups which they ask people to donate to if they are able.
Any amount you can afford – no matter how small – will directly contribute to the support of group members.
