High Peak CVS intends to catch up with one of our groups in a regular, new series called ‘Spotlight on…’ We hope to discover more about the outstanding voluntary work that’s happening across Derbyshire’s High Peak.
This month, we’re talking to Babbling Vagabonds…
- WHAT DOES YOUR GROUP DO?
Babbling Vagabonds is a Buxton-based storytelling theatre company creating imaginative theatre, workshops and community arts projects for all ages. We work mainly across the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales, with a strong focus on rural communities where access to arts activity can be limited. Through performances, schools work, Youth Theatre, Theatre Gym, The Studio making sessions and village-based projects, we use creativity to bring people together, build confidence and celebrate local stories. - WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE?
In 2026 and beyond, we hope to grow our “Who Wants To Play?” programme, building a network of creative rural communities across Derbyshire. We want to expand opportunities for young people and families to take part in theatre and storytelling, develop larger outdoor productions linked to community projects, and continue creating spaces where people can connect, learn new skills and feel inspired through creativity. - HOW HAS HIGH PEAK CVS ASSISTED YOUR GROUP?
High Peak CVS has supported Babbling Vagabonds through advice, networking opportunities and helping us connect with local organisations and communities. Their support has helped us strengthen partnerships, raise our profile locally and better understand the needs of the communities we work alongside. - HOW CAN ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR GROUP DO SO?
People can get involved in lots of ways – by attending performances and workshops, joining REC Youth Theatre or Theatre Gym (over 18yrs), or partnering with us on community projects. We’re always keen to hear from schools, village groups, artists and local residents who want to bring more creativity into their communities. The best way to connect with us is to drop us an email at mark@babblingvagabonds.co.uk , through our website, our social media channels, call us or send a pigeon… then meet and have a coffee and cake!
