A Farewell and a New Chapter:
Reflecting on Five Years at High Peak CVS
After an incredible five-year journey, James, our CEO of High Peak CVS, has announced that he is leaving us in June 2024. In a message to members, friends, and colleagues, James expressed his gratitude and reflections on the remarkable accomplishments achieved during his time here.
To our members,
“Thank you for your unwavering trust and support. It has been a privilege to see firsthand the incredible work you do and, at High Peak CVS, play a small part in enabling you to deliver essential help and guidance to people across the High Peak and beyond.
I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together during my time. Looking back over an unprecedented COVID pandemic in which the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector truly showed it’s value and delivered an essential role in caring for some of the most vulnerable people within our society. More recently the huge impact of the cost of living crisis, not only on the people you support but on our own organisations, families and friends which has affected us all but your dedication and commitment to making a real difference has not gone unnoticed.”

Your hard work and commitment are the backbone of this organisation. I am deeply grateful for your talent, resilience, and the positive atmosphere you create.
Under James’s leadership, High Peak CVS has thrived, witnessing a steady increase in membership levels year on year. This is predominantly down to the services we are able to offer groups but also groups entrusting us to guide them forward.
One of the notable achievements during James’s time at HPCVS is the establishment and growth of the Social Prescribing service. This service, in collaboration with NHS colleagues, has become a cornerstone in supporting individuals with their health, wellbeing, and social needs.
Furthermore, James highlights the evolution of the Bereavement service, originally a small pilot in Glossop, into a High Peak-wide group support service. This service stands as a safe space and support for those navigating the challenging journey of grief and loss, underscoring our commitment to addressing critical community needs.
James also shows his gratitude to the exceptional staff, volunteers, and trustees at HPCVS, whose hard work and dedication has been instrumental in our success. He describes the staff’s hard work and commitment as the backbone of this organisation and that he is ‘deeply grateful for your talent, resilience, and the positive atmosphere you create.’
On leaving, James has expressed his confidence in our future, stating, “I’m delighted that High Peak CVS is in a strong position for continued success, and I have no doubt that the future is bright.” As a result, he encourages prospective leaders to explore the CEO role and speak to him for any advice or for an informal chat regarding the role. Applications will be accepted from week commencing 15th April 24.
As James bids farewell to High Peak CVS, his legacy of compassion, dedication, and community empowerment has been embedded in all that we do amongst the High Peak which will continue to inspire and guide our CVS towards new horizons of success.
