Move More High Peak is recruiting and training a new generation of volunteer walk leaders, helping more people across the area become active and enjoy the outdoors.

Funded by High Peak Borough Council, the Walk ‘Derbyshire Walk Leader Training’ programme provides the skills and confidence needed to lead safe, welcoming walks within local communities.

This initiative is part of the wider Move More High Peak strategy, which focuses on creating short, accessible neighbourhood walks—particularly for people who are currently inactive or living with health conditions that limit their mobility.

The training equips volunteers to organise and lead a variety of walks, including routes through local parks, circular neighbourhood trails, town walks and special events such as the Buxton Garden Trail and New Mills Festival.

As a qualified walk leader, you’ll also have the opportunity to support and collaborate with established local groups like Snailblazers, as well as community organisations including The Bureau, New Mills Volunteer Centre, The Rock Mill Centre, Zink, and Grapevine—helping to sustain and grow valuable community programmes.
